To answer that, we’re gonna need to be formally introduced.
My name is Edwin Wu (I guess you could’ve figured that out, you’re at edwinwu.com).
I’m an emergency/critical care and neurointensive care physician who has a fascination with everything human. And nowhere is the human condition more evident than in the emergency department or ICU, where each passing day is likely to be that patient’s (or their family’s) new worst day of their life.
But, like Shaft, I’m a complicated man (I know you read that in a super deep voice).
I’m also a guy who’s moving through the chapters of my life and taking it all in. I want to be able to travel, be a citizen of planet Earth and live a good, fulfilling life. So that’s why you’re also going to read about side hustle projects and experiments in things as random as internet entrepreneurship, improving my health and opinions on stuff that happens.
Oh, and I’m also Canadian. So lots of stuff on that.
Here’s a breakdown of sections you’ll find (as I build them up):
On Doctoring

Reflections on stuff I see during my typical day. Things that make us human; the fear and hope of a new therapy I’m going to try on someone’s husband/father/wife/brother/mother with no guarantees of cure; the comfort in a peaceful death; the elation of saving another human’s life; and lots of shout-outs to some personal heroes of mine (names and profiles to come!)
On Side-Hustling

And I don’t mean driving for Uber or delivering for Amazon or Instacart. I mean to build an asset of value while conquering some lingering entrepreneurial fears I have. If you have them too, then join me in comiseration, why don’t ya?
And here’s a shout-out to Chris Guillebeau (is that how you spell it?) who’s bringing the podcast Side Hustle School to the world and the inspiration for my need to broaden the definition of myself beyond doctor. Thanks, Chris!
On Canadian-ing

The angry guy with adamantium claws on the X-men is Canadian. We’re not all nice guys.
That’s it – there’s the overview for edwinwu.com.
Thanks for joining me in exploring a life worth living.
Cheers,
Edwin
